About Us

My name is Arash and I am a third-year Political Science and English student at the University of Victoria. As a student in the social sciences, I am well aware of the problems our current education system faces and how students like us are struggling day-by-day with balancing trying to achieve their education and get by under our current system.

I am a third-year linguistics major at the University of Victoria (UVIC) with a passion for language, writing, and psycholinguistics. I find the intersections between English and linguistics fascinating, in particular where they tend to butt-heads in terms of “correct” use of language and what it means to “use” language. I am not unaware of the struggles of students in B.C., as I am one of them, and this website should act as a gateway for others who may be in a similar position. By staying informed and consistent with the facts, our hope is that the student body at UVIC and the broader student community in B.C. and beyond will be more aware of the state of our education system, and also more prepared for what may come next.

Hello! I am a 21 year old Health Information Science undergrad student at the University of Victoria. My degree explores the intersection of Data science, Health Information and Information technology by providing me with technical skills as well as an understanding of healthcare in Canada. As a student in British Columbia I find the state of our education system particularly interesting and applicable to my daily life. I believe that all BC residents, but especially students, should be aware of current issues facing our education system and what can or is being done to address those issues.

Hi, My name is Hemal and I am a second-year political science student from Calgary! I chose my topic as the politics of everyday life is seemingly growing in our lives and I believe it is important to stay up to date on how and why this is the case. In my free time I enjoy reading and writing, as well as watching good TV shows such as The Wire from HBO. Education is a fundamental part of my life and values, so learning more about the process is a no brainer!

I am a twenty year old undergraduate student at the University of Victoria. I currently am taking a variety of courses whose subjects range from French to German literature. I have been writing since high school for my own purposes and have just recently began my own Substack. I enjoy covering topics of metaphysics, religion, politics, and technology in my writing. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, as well as getting outside.
